Scope and Content of the Papers

The papers described here consist of correspondence between Leonora Gidlund and the educational institutions, archives, historical societies, book dealers, radio stations and private collectors that she contacted in her search for primary research materials relating to Mercer's life and his activities as one of America's prominent songwriters. Included are a number of copies of original materials (including draft lyrics and Mercer correspondence) that were provided by some of the respondents. These materials have been retained with the correspondence of the holding institution.
