Chartered on September 1, 1944 as a local of the Food, Tobacco, Agricultural and Allied Workers Union of America, its affiliation changed in 1954 when it became Local 15-A of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union. The collection, 1945-1973, consists of financial documents, general correspondence, and files describing relations with eleven companies in the Charleston, S.C. area, chiefly the American Tobacco Company.

Organized in 1899, the Brotherhood of Railway and Steamship Clerks, Freight Handlers, Express and Station Employes (BRAC) was renamed the Transportation Communications International Union in 1987. Robert W. Smith was a member of Liberty Lodge 713 (location unknown), and his collection consists of memberships dues cards, 1941-1969.

Roy Groenert papers
Roy Groenert, former president of United Textile Workers Local 2563, was Director of Organization for the UTWA. Groenert's papers illuminate his interests in local union affairs, in organizing, and in the UTWA's suit which brought enforcement of the no-raid pacts signed after the merger of the AFL-CIO.
Ruth Hale collection
The Ruth Hale collection, 1933-1938, 1971, documents farm conditions, particularly that of sharecroppers, and the activities of Southern Tenant Farmer's Union (an interracial organization founded in 1934 to seek relief from the federal government for sharecroppers and tenant farmers), in Arkansas during the 1930s. The collection includes printed material and correspondence.

Transcripts of interviews conducted in 1996 and a published article round out the collection.
