Scope and Content of the Series
E.M. Broom's papers include his personal correspondence with other individuals, not necessarily in his capacity as General Chairman but also as an average citizen pursing a variety of interests. Broom was actively involved with politics inside BRAC but also on Capitol Hill and locally in DeKalb County, Georgia. He was elected as a member of Democratic Party County Executive Committee of District 58 post 4 of DeKalb County in August of 1978. The series also includes information on BRAC employee retirement.
BRAC sponsored E.M. Broom's attendance at Harvard University's Trade Union Program in 1959 and the series documents his year of study in the program. Broom was also interested in real estate and worked in that field part-time. These papers also include the reunions of the Hills Park Ole Inman Gang which reunited him and his cohorts from BRAC.
