The files of this series contain the professional and legal documents that enabled Local Lodge 37 to function as both a branch of the IAMAW and a labor force for various New Orleans area metal trades companies.

The two subseries of Company-Union relations are; A: Agreement booklets and B: Company records. Subseries B, Company records, is further divided into five sub-subseries: 1. Company files, 2. Grievances, 3. Arbitration, 4. Elections, Special Called Meetings, Strikes and Resolutions,5. Legal.

Local Lodge 37 had contracts with several metal trades companies including the American Can Company, National Gypsum Company, Service Foundry Incorporated and the Association of Manufacturers and Repairers.

All the files that comprise the Company records subseries contain general company papers, grievance forms, correspondence, copies of agreements, seniority lists, meeting notes, job descriptions, contract changes and a variety of reports. Subjects of the Company-Union relations files include the following subjects: agreements, negotiations, labor disputes, employee performance reports, strike sanctions, lockouts, strike lists, arbitration, mediation, and conciliation meetings.
