The United Steel Workers of America (1972-1980) Series III includes records from Adkins’ work as Sub-District Director of District 35 in Atlanta, Georgia (1972-1980). The series is organized in 4 subseries: A. Sub-Director Files, 1971-1982; B. Collective Bargaining, 1950; 1962; 1973-1983; C. Arbitration and Grievances, 1973-1980; D. Artifacts.

Sub-District Director Files are arranged alphabetically and include articles, bylaws and constitutions, campaign files, correspondence, interoffice communication, a schedule calendar for 1975-1976, photographs, and pension information. Collective Bargaining files mainly consist of USWA contracts arranged by local union number (1950-1979). A few files containing correspondence and negotiations are arranged alphabetically (1973-1983) and Arbitration and Grievances are arranged numerically from 1973-1980. Companies include: Bonnell Company Inc. (1973-1980), National Steel (formerly Stran Steel) (1975-1977), Roper Pump Company (1975), Keystone Resource, Inc. (1977), and Roper Power Company (1979-1980). Artifacts include badges, buttons, bottle tops, and awards.
