Correspondence, 1969-1978
Scope and Content of the Series
The series documents Mary Long's distinguished nursing career at Grady Memorial Hospital. Virtually all the material in the series dates from her years in the Central Referral Office (1971-1985), and includes writings by her on the office and its work, as well as correspondence, reports, and printed material. The series documents other projects and initiatives, such as the hospital's contract with the Atlanta City Prison and Farm, workshops, and includes routine paperwork and personnel information. Material related to the City of Atlanta's Homeless Task Force, on which Long served, forms part of this series.
Material related to Long's later associations with Grady as a speaker and instructor can be found in Series VII, including a personal reminiscence she delivered on the occasion of the hospital's centennial (1992). See Series IX for Long's Grady-related artifacts.
