The collection, 1928-1982, of Attorney D. Brucs Shine consist of legal case files and personal files. The legal cases are arranged into two subseries: labor-related and others. The labor-related files are composed chiefly of cases involving local unions of the United Textile Workers of America. Other cases include such issues as segregation in Tennessee's colleges and universities, reapportionment and disputed elections in Hancock and Hawkins counties, and activities in the Tennessee Arts Commission.

These papers pertain to Shine's unsuccessful bids to obtain the Democratic nomination for a Senate seat from tennessee in 1976 and 1978; Shine's organization of a corporation in 1972 to purchase The Brussels Times, an English-language weekly newspaper in Belgium; his involvement with the newly-formed Anglican Catholic Diocese of Mid-Atlantic States; and numerous political and social affiliations.
