Scope and Content of the Records
The records, 1947, 1970-1979, of the AFL-CIO COPE Area 3 consist primarily of correspondence and printed material generated by the state labor federations in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina and West Virginia. The bulk of these documents pertain to the national political campaigns of 1972 and 1976. The material dated 1947-1957 consists of congressional voting records gathered and printed by the national COPE There is also a series of field reports and activity plans sent from Dowler to Barkan between the years 1972-1976. The remainder of the collection includes correspondence and printed material relating to the AFL-CIO executive council, the AFL-CIO Region VI (Atlanta), and the National Council of Senior Citizens.
