Newsclippings, April 1980-December 1981
Scope and Content of the Records
The records of the Southern Woodcutters Assistance Project, 1979-1982, consist of correspondence, legal documents, newsclippings, printed materials, photographs and periodicals which documents the activities of the organization, particularly the controversy over "short sticking" (the undermeasuring of loads of lumber). There are also oral interview transcripts and photographs intended for a film project about Southern woodcutters. Legal documents for the United Woodcutters Association consist of affidavits and survey reports of interviews which support their claim of "short sticking." Also included are the bylaws of the United Woodcutters, Haulers and Helpers Association.
