Scope and Content of the Records

From the Collection:

The Fair Employment Practices Committee, Collection, 1943-1946, consists of information on the March on Washington Movement, the Congress of Racial Equality, a plan to picket the Capitol in an effort to force the Senate to consider an anti-poll tax bill, and an attempt to force the Capitol Transit Company to hire Negroes. These documents were obtained from the Federal Bureau of Investigation on a Freedom of Information request by Dr. Merl Reed of the Georgia State University history faculty as part of his research on the FEPC, as the FEPC is frequently mentioned in them.
