Scope and Content of the Series

Administrative files are divided into six subseries, as follows: A. General Office Files B. Correspondence C. Subject Files D. Diaries (Log Books) E. Minutes F. Notes

Subseries A, General Office Files, contain general memos and other communications from Metropolitan Atlanta Regional Transportation Authority (MARTA), news clippings, and letters and other materials from the National Transportation Service. Also included is a file on Georgia State University, which contains correspondence and papers given at a symposium on Transit Workers held at Georgia State in April 1976. Much of the correspondence in Subseries B consists of incoming and outgoing correspondence with the officers at the international office of the ATU. Subseries C, Subject Files, contains files on transit conferences and conventions, contract proposals, insurance, MARTA, research reports, working conditions and benefits. Subseries D, Diaries, consists of a series of log books containing records of the daily activities of the officers from Division 732. The minutes in Subseries E cover the Division's Executive Board meetings, membership meetings, and committees, as well as of the Board of Directors meetings of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). Subseries F consists of a small number of unsigned, undated notes relating to the general administration of the Division.
