Scope and Content of the Records
The Collection, 1961, 1963-1967, of the Kingsport (Tennessee) Press Strike contains correspondence, legal documents, minutes, newsclippings, printed material, photographs, and periodicals documenting the activities of the five striking unions: the Bookbinders, Electrotypers, Machinists, Printing Pressmen and Assistants and Typographical Unions. Principal correspondents for the unions are strike director Earl Derrick and attorney John McLellan. Another notable correspondent is C.E. Fritschle, Vice President for Industrial Relations for Kingsport Press, Inc.
Included also are some financial documents and printed material generated by the Tennessee State Labor Council from 1961-1963.
