Scope and Content of the Records

The records, 1968-1977, of the Atlanta (Ga.) office of the Human Resources and Development Institute (HRDI) AFL-CIO, contain broad and generalized groups of correspondence, minutes, reports, pamphlets, and periodicals concerning over ten agencies active in the field of job training and manpower development. The bulk of the Records pertains to the Manpower and CETA (Comprehensive Education and Training Act) programs. These files include guidelines and procedures for obtaining U.S. government grants. Other agencies involved with HRDI are the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority(MARTA), the Atlanta Region Open Housing Coalition, the Atlanta Community Relations Commission, and the Atlanta Area Technical School. Walter Rucker, AFL-CIO manpower representative, and Aaron Turpeau, director of the Atlanta Manpower Program, figure prominently in these Records.
