Scope and Content of the Subseries
SCNA's historical and clipping file includes clippings and printed material, writings, correspondence, financial records, photographs, artifacts, and legal-style records. The subseries includes correspondence and essays, some published, on nursing in South Carolina and the history of SCNA, examples of early membership applications, and clipping files for 1947-1959 and 1961-1969. The subseries includes lecture notes dated 1911, and a small group of manuscripts apparently created by early SCNA members Mary and Zadie Gulledge. (Mary Gulledge joined SCNA in 1910 and was elected president in 1926. Series I includes documentation of her presidency.) Some material, including some office files and early convention addresses and ephemera, was moved from this series to Series I and VI during processing. See Series X for SCNA's collection of historical photographs.
Possibly Ruth Chamberlin acquired some of this material on behalf of the SCLN Historical Committee.
