NSNA Recruitment Committee, 1960-1962; 1970
Scope and Content of the Subseries
Organizational records of the Student Nurses' Association of South Carolina include officers' files (president, recording secretary, corresponding secretary, treasurer, and vice-presidents) and extensive files of printed material distributed by the National Student Nurses Association (NSNA). Correspondence is organized according to the creating officer, and focuses on organizational logistics such as event and meeting planning, membership, dues, and outreach. The books of convention reports include convention proceedings and officers' reports, which include valuable summary reports of the year's activities.
The NSNA files offer a national view of student nursing activities. NSNA correspondence demonstrates the range of issues with which student nurses were concerned at the time, including questions of licensure, health care accessibility, nursing educational curriculum, and health care legislation. The subseries includes limited documentation of other state student nurses' associations, as well as SCNA and the South Carolina League for Nursing.
