Scope and Content of the Subseries

From the Sub-Series:

The complete and well-ordered files in this subseries document the diverse new responsibilities SCNA undertook during Dora McNeill's tenure as Executive Director, 1963-1972. Files show SCNA's planning and construction of a headquarters building, which opened in September 1968; the reorganization of SCNA's districts in 1970; workplace organization of nurses by Economic Security Program staff; the growing complexity of the organization with the addition of the Council on Practice; SCNA's experimental provision of continuing education in the Inter-Association Committee on the Improvement of Nursing Services project; and the financial problems faced by SCNA (and ANA) in the early 1970s. The subseries contains a separate set of files related to the revision of South Carolina's Nurse Practice law in 1969, and a set of files maintained by a part-time Bookkeeper/Membership Secretary.
