ANA Public Relations flow chart, 1951
Scope and Content of the Subseries
Files documenting the tenure of SCNA's second manager, and first full-time Executive Director, 1948-1963, are incomplete. The subseries includes no files created 1960-1963, and few for 1958-1960. The subseries documents the increasing complexity of the organization and its role, as it added districts, developed a large number of committees and occupational sections, and entered into new formal relationships with other organizations and agencies. ANA took its modern form with adoption of a new organizational plan in 1952, and the subseries shows the national association undertaking a broader role in assuring the advancement and security of nurses in the states.
