Scope and Content of the Subseries

From the Sub-Series:

The subseries documents Cunningham's work as SCNA's first Executive Secretary, 1935-1948, but also includes earlier files, and materials reflecting Cunningham's role on SCNA's Ways and Means Committee, which worked to secure revision of the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. Cunningham's records included two separate sets of office files (approximately 1923-1938 and 1938-1948). The earlier files include both materials created by very early SCNA officers and records added much later. The subseries also includes sets of files documenting SCNA's participation in the Southern Division of the American Nursing association (1929-1949), and its creation of an Inventory of Registered Nurses in South Carolina for the National Nursing Council for War Service (1940-1945).

Four separate sets of files:

  • 1923-1938 office files, 1912, 1921-1938, 1964, 1969
  • 1938-1948 office files, 1928, 1936-1950
  • Southern Division, American Nurses Association files, 1929-1949, circa 1953
  • National Nursing Council for War Service: Inventory of Registered Nurses in South Carolina files, 1940-1945
