Scope and Content of the Subseries

From the Sub-Series:

Records in this subseries were sent to the SCNA office by the districts that dissolved on December 31, 1970, on the instructions of the Board of Directors. Records are particularly extensive for District I, based in Charleston, and District III, based in Columbia. Financial records, correspondence and minutes document the separately operated registries for private-duty nurses owned by those two districts. The subseries includes records dating from 1915 for the Graduate Nurses Association of Charleston, which developed into District I. Subseries B also documents Districts I and III.

The subseries includes records of the following districts (the geographical area covered by the district in 1970 is indicated in brackets):

  • District I records, 1915-1970 [Berkeley, Dorchester, Charleston, Colleton, and Beaufort counties]
  • District II records, 1931-1936, 1949 [Dillon, Marion, Florence, Marlboro, Chesterfield, Horry, Williamsburg, and Georgetown counties]
