Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Minutes make up the bulk of the files generated by the Executive Board (now the Board of Directors) and the Executive Committee. Materials related to Board actions, including reports from officers and Committees, Committee and officer rosters, financial records, and limited correspondence, are also included. The minutes of the annual business sessions, held at the annual meeting, and limited minutes from joint meetings of the Board or Committee with other organizations are also in the files.

In the early years, the secretary of the organization was responsible for taking minutes at all association meetings. As the organization grew, professional and support staff were hired to maintain the organization's records. The office files of Board meetings from the 1960s onward mirror the increasingly complicated structure of the association and include more reports, correspondence, and other related materials than the earlier minutes.

Correspondence between Board members and detailed financial information can be found in Series III. More extensive reports from Committees, districts, and sections can be found in Series IV, V, and VI. Some duplicate minutes, with notes taken by attending members, can be found in Series IX.
