Scope and Content of the Records

The collection consists of records of Local 384 (Asheville, N.C.) of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America from 1934-1959. Includes correspondence (1951-1959), financial documents (1943-1946, 1952-1954), minutes (1934-1936, 1946-1955), and printed material (1943-1959). The records mainly concern meetings, elections, salary increase requests, and violation charges against members of Local 384. Also includes information regarding the proposed affiliation of Local 384 with the North Carolina State AFL-CIO.
