Scope and Content of the Records
From the Collection:
The records of the United Association of Plumbers and Steamfitters, Local 487, 1949-1976, consist primarily of minute books. The minutes reveal the Local's interest in contracts, wage scales, employment opportunities and layoffs, rates of travel pay, conditions in various union shops, sending delegates to various labor bodies and conventions, apprenticeship programs, licensing of plumbers, examinations and codes, insurance, voting and civic affairs. Ray Stepp, J. K. Sugg and W. R. Ladd served in several different capacities on the Executive Board and committees.
