Scope and Content of the Series
The Alliance for Labor Action Records bulk with files pertaining to the social concerns of the A.L.A., such as opposition to the Vietnam War, the Anti-ballistic Missile System and activities in support of the Grape Boycott (1969-70), tax reform, medical care for the indigent, low-income housing, and other campus and community affairs. Also included is the original draft and several preliminary drafts of the A.L.A.'s first constitution and statement of purpose. Some financial records and correspondence from the national office, organizing reports and correspondence from the A.L.A.'s Atlanta organizing campaign (1969-70), and assorted clippings and pamphlets complete the collection.
