Delta farm strike, 1965
Scope and Contents
Consists of correspondence and documents related to the 1965 strike of farmworkers in the Mississippi Delta, organized by the Mississippi Freedom Labor Union (MFLU), Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP), and the Delta Ministry. Contents include a report by E.T. Kehrer on his interviews with strikers, MFLU organizers, and Delta Ministry members, a report by Mississippi AFL-CIO President Claude Ramsay criticizing the feasibility of organizing temporary farm laborers, and a July 1965 issue of the MFDP newsletter harshly criticizing the AFL-CIO for insufficient support of the strike.
