Consists of correspondence of E.T. Kehrer with AFL-CIO Civil Rights Department Director Donald Slaiman. Topics include Kehrer's reports on the 1971 strike of African American bakery workers in Savannah, Georgia, union organizing efforts among faculty and student workers at the University of Florida, and discussion of the AFL-CIO's participation in arbitrating compliance cases brought before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Also includes text of a 1971 address by Slaiman on the relationship of African Americans and organized labor.
