Consists of correspondence of E.T. Kehrer with AFL-CIO Civil Rights Department Director Donald Slaiman. Topics include outreach projects to increase recruitment of African Americans into apprenticeship and training programs, particularly for the textile industry, and internal union disputes over some members' support for George Wallace in the 1968 presidential election. Also includes a transcript of a eulogy for Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered by Benjamin Mays.
