Scope and Content of the Papers
The collection consists of papers of Edmund Torbush, 1906-1985. Includes correspondence, minutes, news clippings, printed materials, pamphlets, photographs pertaining to the International Typographical Union, the Women's Auxiliary and Local 48 (Atlanta, Ga.) of the International Typographical Union. Materials reflect the union's concern with repealing the Georgia right-to-work law, organizing, ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment in Georgia, national health insurance, reducing union dues to facilitate mergers with other local printing craft unions, and apprenticeship programs. The papers also contain artifacts used in the typesetting profession.
