Scope and Content of the Series
Subject files document Cahill's service on the Georgia Commission on the Status of Women, 1972-1975, as well as her work on Commission publications as contributing editor of Rape and the Treatment of Rape Victims in Georgia, and editor of Barriers to Female Equality in Employment in Georgia (both published in 1975), through correspondence, printed material, and reports. International Women's Year (IWY) documentary materials include a copy of the Public Law #94-167 establishing the National Commission for IWY in 1975, a Chronology of the Women's Movement, 1961-1975, published by the National Commission, correspondence and planning materials of members of the Georgia Coordinating Committee, and the governor's proclamation citing International Women's Year in Georgia, 1975. Cahill's activity as a member of the board of directors of ERA Georgia, Inc. is represented through correspondence, meeting agendas and minutes, committee reports, organizational bylaws, and information on workshops and strategy sessions, 1976-1980. Documentation of Cahill's involvement with the Democratic Party, 1974-1984, as a voter, delegate, and candidate is found under "Politics" as is her correspondence with or regarding members of the Carter administration. Other subject files relate to Cahill's work with the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs (1971-1974), including her position as conservation director, in 1971 and 1972; Leadership Atlanta (annual reports, 1981-1993, and photographs, 1978-1979); and the White House Conference on Families (correspondence, photographs, and printed materials, 1979-1980).
