Scope and Contents of the Records
The United Food & Commercial Workers Union of America, Local 204 (Charlotte, N.C.) records, 1977-1994, consist of financial and membership records, organizing materials, contract negotiations, grievances, office files, and correspondence. Most of the files cover UFCW Local 204's attempts to organized and represent employees at various North Carolina nurings homes. Local 204 negotiated with Avante, Beverly Enterprises, and Gerber. In addition to these union records, there are a number of files relating to International Women's Day and to local, North Carolina, and national political issues.
