Interviewed by Traci Drummond. In this interview, Weed begins with a discussion of his earlier childhood and agrarian lifestyle. He discusses joining the Navy in order to leave the farm. After discussing his time traveling and learning in the Navy, he discusses the many positions he held throughout his career. He mainly discusses his time at Fort Rucker where he worked and held union positions. He discusses issues the union dealt with (strikes, pension, etc.) and his many leadership roles. In conclusion, he discusses his many roles in his community and volunteer work.

Biographical Note

C.T. Weed was born in 1934 in Dale County, Alabama. Weed was the oldest of six children. His family worked as farmers. Weed entered the Navy when he was 18 years old. He was trained at Naval Base San Diego in 1952. He was then sent to Rhode Island and subsequently traveled around the world. Weed served in the Navy until 1956. After his service, he met his wife. He then worked at the police department, which led to his job at Fort Rucker. At Fort Rucker, he held many positions including utility man and mechanic. He also joined the union and held many union jobs (shop steward, grievance committee, business rep). Weed retired, but still remains active in his community.
