Scope and Contents note

Standard printed contract, transmittal letter, and addendum letter: The contract is dated February 12, 1965, between Kacy Music Pub. Co. and Johnny Mercer and Gene Di Novi, assigning rights to "Have a Heart." The printed form used is the "1947 Revised Uniform Popular Songwriters Contract." The contract assigns copyright of the song to Kacy Music Publishing Co. for 28 years. Payment for the song is spelled out in detail. The contract is for publication rights. Signatures on last page are of Daryl Coogan (?), V.P., Kacy Music Publishing Co.; Gene Di Novi, 4742 Heaven Ave., Woodland Hills, Calif.; and Johnny Mercer, 10972 Chalon, LA 24; and is countersigned for the Songwriters' Protective Association by Theodore Cigston (?), April 28, 1965. Addendum letter dated April 22, 1965 from Jeane Renwick , Wil-Den Productions, Kacy Music Publishing Co., to Miriam Stern at the American Guild of Authors and Composers, pointing out the typed addition of "Paragraph 24," which states "Publisher agrees to have Nancy Wilson record the within song within one (1) year [. . .] and to have the said recording released within two (2) years of the date of the contract [. . .]" Transmittal letter dated April 29, 1965, is signed by Miriam Stern, Executive Director, American Guild of Authors and Composers, and addressed to "Mr. John Mercer, c/o Vernon D. Wood, 2018 N. Vine St., Hollywood, Calif."
