Interviewed by Harvey Newman. In this interview, Charles McTier discusses his early life in Atlanta and the city's growth. He describes the impact of Emory University and the Woodruff Foundation on the city's development. He talks about the Atlanta Way and its future in the city, as well as Andrew Young's role in shaping Atlanta. He discusses the city's contribution to civil rights and the work that remains for the city's leaders.

Biographical Note
Charles H. "Pete" McTier helped form the Robert W. Woodruff Foundation, one of four foundations he led during a career in philanthropic administration. He is a director of Coca-Cola Fomento EconoĢmico Mexicano, S.A.B. de C.V (FEMSA) and the CDC Foundation. McTier also is a trustee of the Pediatric Center of Georgia, the Georgia Research Alliance and the Task Force for Global Health. He is a past director of AGL Resources and SunTrust Bank, Atlanta, and a past president of The Commerce Club.
