Interviewed by Harvey Newman and Andrea Young. In this interview, Doug Gatlin recalls his time working with Andrew Young, first as part of his campaign and then during the 1996 Olympics. He tells several stories about Andrew Young's time as mayor, including a drug scandal and international visits to promote Atlanta as an Olympic bid. He then discusses the Olympics, and much of the politics around them, in detail.

Biographical Note

Douglas (Doug) Gatlin was born in Atlanta in 1945. His family moved to Toco Hills not long after. In 1963, he and his wife moved to Knoxville, TN, then returned to Atlanta in 1972, where he stayed. He was part of Andrew Young's campaign to become mayor, and then became a deputy for the mayoral office, where he stayed under Mayor Franklin. He also volunteered on the Atlanta Olympic Committee. He the served as the Director of Faith in the City.
