Scope and Contents
Interviewed by Harvey Newman and Andrea Young. In this interview, Antoinin discusses her early career, her work with Jesse Hill, and the inner workings of Atlanta politics during the Civil Rights Movement. She describes the chaos of working with Jesse Hill, the excitement of working to get Maynard Jackson and Andrew Young elected mayor, and the fulfillment of her work with Atlanta Life Insurance Company. Antoinin's colorful storytelling sheds new light on Jesse Hill's involvement in Atlanta's development, on integration, civil rights, and race relations.

Biographical Note
Henrietta Antoinin was born in Atlanta in 1938 and spent much of her life working for the Atlanta Life Insurance Company. She was involved in several mayoral campaigns, including those of Maynard Jackson and Andrew Young. She worked closely with Jesse Hill to increase voter registration through her work in Atlanta Life. Antoinin coordinated black pride events including a black arts exhibition which became the basis for the National Black Arts Festival. Antoinin served as the vice president of public relations for Atlanta Life, and after her retirement, she served on the Executive Committee of the Atlanta branch of the NAACP, which awarded her with the Jondelle Johnson Leadership Award in 2001.
