The Harvey Newman papers (1967-2015) consists of Newman's professional, academic papers from his time at Georgia State University and contains teaching files, research materials, publications, drafts, interviews, and correspondence. The papers are divided into two series: Office files and Making of Modern Atlanta interviews. The office files, 1967-2015, make up the bulk of the papers and include course files for Newman's teaching, research files from Newman's scholarly writing, as well as materials detailing his civic engagement in the City of Atlanta. The Making of Modern Atlanta files, 2011-2012, include interview transcripts and paperwork related to the project concerning Andrew Young. The material was utilized in a book co-written by Newman with Andrea Young and Ambassador Andrew Young (Andrew Young and the Making of Modern Atlanta, 2016) and a two-part documentary film (Andrew Young's Making of Modern Atlanta, 2016). The interviews, with political and civic leaders, concern the modernization of Atlanta in the late 20th century.
