Awards and Honors, undated
Scope and Content of the Series
This series is composed primarily of newspaper clippings, as well as a few magazine clippings, dated from 1952 to 2001. Newspapers cited include The Statesboro Herald, The Savannah Morning News, The New York Times and USA Today. There are also clippings from magazines such as Time, Southern Living, and Harper's Bazaar. The subjects of these clippings reflect the arrangement of the collection and thus range from family history to performances to obituaries.
There are many articles on Daisy Cave, a distant relative of Emma, who was the last Confederate widow. Other topics include her children's wedding announcements, their professional/personal accomplishments and various friends and colleagues of Emma's. Emma's Piano Bar and Savannah's nightlife are highlighted, as well as her many performances and appearances, honors and awards. The series concludes with copies of the many articles and editorials written about Emma, and her wondrously talented life, upon her death in 2001.
