Scope and Content of the Series
This series is predominantly composed of four subject areas: general correspondence (including notes, letters, cards, and memoranda) both to and from Emma Kelly, as well as family, friends and fans (1980-2000); correspondence from celebrities and politicians (1965-1997); letters pertaining to her appearance in the movie Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1996-1999); and correspondence relating to Emma Kelly's nominations to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame (1990-2000).
Notable correspondents include: The Lady Chablis, John Berendt, Mike Kelly, Dale Lick, Ric Mandes, U.S. State Senator Joseph Kennedy, Georgia State Senator Roy Allen, Virginia Anne Franklin, Nick Mamalakis, John Rousakis and a member of the Royal Consulate of Denmark.
Emma received handmade cards from fans both near and far. Two examples of this type of correspondence can be found in artifacts box A4.
