Scope and Contents
Interviewed by Lisa Flaherty. In this interview, Nicole Carlson talks about her family and their political views. She also talks about her experience as a midwife in several different cities and describes her involvement in advocacy for various women's health issues. Later, Carlson describes her experience at the 2017 Women's March on Washington and discusses how she thinks the march has made an impact in society and in politics.

Biographical Note
Nicole Carlson was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1969. She comes from a family of Democrats and has two siblings. Carlson is a registered nurse-midwife and has worked as an activist for women's birth rights. She has lived and practiced midwifery in Richmond, Virginia, and Portland, Oregon. In 2010, Carlson moved back to Atlanta, where she continues to practice as a midwife.
