Interviewed by Morna Gerrard. In this interview, Cyndi Carpentieri discusses her own and her family's political views. She talks about her career in public health, and how it has influenced her politics and been affected by politics. She describes her experiences at the Atlanta March for Social Justice and Women on January 21, 2017, then expresses her hopes and fears for the future during the remainder of Donald Trump's term as president. Carpentieri discusses political activities in which she has participated since January, and offers advice for taking political action and communicating with people with opposing political views.

Biographical Note

Cyndi Carpentieri was born in 1972 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She and her family lived in various states before she moved to Atlanta. Carpentieri attended Boston University and moved to Atlanta shortly after graduation to pursue the goal of working for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She served in the Peace Corps in Côte d’Ivoire, then worked at the Carter Center and the CDC. She currently works as a clinical research nurse at Emory University School of Medicine.
