Correspondence, January-March 1976
Scope and Content of the Series
The Rennolds, especially Seymour, corresponded with a large number of sheet music and record dealers, collectors, and publishers, as well as a variety of well-known performers and composers. Mrs. Rennolds carried on lively exchanges with several individuals, including David Raksin, John Green, Abe Olman, Marshall Robbins, Marian McPartland, and Alec Wilder. Enclosures in the correspondence include various clippings sent to the Rennolds, such as obituaries and articles relating to Johnny Mercer, handwritten notes, and lists.
Although most of the correspondence between the Rennolds and Johnny and Ginger Mercer was lost in a theft (circa 1975) of Mrs. Rennolds' research notes, a few items remain, including a draft of a letter to Johnny Mercer in circa 1974, a draft of a letter to Ginger Mercer in September 1976, and a thank you note from Ginger Mercer in 1976.
