Lists -- Miscellaneous, undated
Scope and Content of the Series
This series contains some biographical and personal information on the two collectors and their immediate family. Press coverage of two Big Band parties that the Rennolds gave to celebrate the debut of their daughters forms part of this series, as well as a few clippings and handwritten notes on other activities of the family. Because John Rennolds, like Johnny Mercer, attended Woodberry Forest School in Orange, Virginia, some printed articles from or about the school are also included here. (See also Series IV, Box 5, Folder 10.)
Both John and Seymour Rennolds made extensive research notes on their collection of recordings and sheet music. The Rennolds' numerous lists and catalogues of Mercer recordings, sheet music, movies and miscellaneous lists have been placed in this series. An article by the Rennolds titled "John Herndon Mercer: America's Greatest Lyricist," which was published in the Fall 1976 issue of the Woodberry Forest Bulletin, is also included here.
