Interviewed by Andrew Reisinger. In this interview, Steve Wise talks about his family and his experience growing up in Virginia. He also describes what it was like moving to Atlanta and going to school at Georgia Tech and Emory University. Wise talks about his interest in anti-war news and mentions the people and projects that influenced him. He also comments on where he got his writing experience, how he began working for The Great Speckled Bird, and the role he had while there.

Biographical Note

Steve Wise was born May 28,1943 in Raleigh, North Carolina. In the summer of 1961, Wise moved to Atlanta to be a co-op student at Georgia Tech. He was there for one year to study civil engineering then transferred to Emory University. He studied history and began writing a series of columns for the student newspaper at Emory. Later, Wise went to the Institute for Policy Studies for more economic background. After leaving the institute in August of 1968, Wise begin working at The Great Speckled Bird.
