Scope and Contents
Interviewed by Andrew Reisinger. In this interview, Roger Friedman discusses his education and political development. He discusses his time at The Great Speckled Bird newspaper in great detail, including technology, communal living, and interpersonal relationships at the paper. He also discusses the changing sex roles and sexual liberation of the 1970s.

Biographical Note:
Roger Friedman was born January 4, 1946 in the District of Columbia. He later attended college at Brown University. He went on to work for the Extra newspaper, where he wrote stories and helped with layout. In 1970, Friedman moved to Atlanta, where he lived with a few members of the Great Speckled Bird staff. Friedman soon began working for The Bird, taking on various roles such as managing editor and advertising editor.
