Beth Coates: Topics discussed include Ryan's childhood remembrances of air raids on London during World War II; her parents' occupations; working as a child with her mother; description of the public housing her family lived in; living with war time rations; the public health system; schooling through high school; chores at home; what Ryan and the neighborhood kids did for entertainment; moving into better living conditions with her brother and sister-in-law; her opportunity to move to the United States; her first experiences and impressions on moving over to the US; her first jobs and entering night school once here; how far she come now in her occupation; and finally reflecting on what could have happened had Ryan opted to stay in England rather than immigrate.
