Scope and Contents of the Series
The Legislative series, 1966-2005, documents Planned Parenthood Southeast's efforts to monitor and influence lawmaking in Georgia. Files contain fact sheets, supporting materials, talking points, candidate and elected official's positions on choice, and minutes from Planned Parenthood of Atlanta's meetings with other coalitions. The records document specific legislative sessions and laws, including equity in prescription coverage (HB374), Title X, Gag Rule, Parental Notification Act (HB310) and Biased counseling and mandatory delay laws. The series also contains some records of the organization's Legislative Committee; information about lobbying and grassroots mobilization; reference material about Georgia government, officials, and the legislative process; and sets of files on national legislation, including national health care reform.
