Historical Note about Good Government Atlanta
Good Government Atlanta is a biracial public interest lobby organized in 1966 by members of the staff of the Atlanta Commission on Crime and Juvenile Delinquency. Michael H. Trotter became president of Good Government Atlanta during the 1990s. Its purpose was to improve governmental services and the quality of life in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area. By investigating and identifying capable candidates, endorsing them to run for city public school positions, GGA hoped to achieve less juvenile delinquency through education. The Atlanta School Board was one such target and improving the quality of the Atlanta Public Schools was a major aim.
