Correspondence, 1907-1910, 1951-1952, 1969-2014, undated [bulk, 1970-2012], documents Abbott's relationships with family, friends, and acquaintances from all over the world, including his organizing, editing, and professional activities. Some of the files contain poetry or manuscripts, many related to Abbott's editing work. The series includes family materials from the early twentieth century that Abbott preserved. Correspondence may relate to the publishing projects and events further documented in Series II and VI. The series is organized in alphabetical order by the last name of the sender (when the last name is unknown, correspondence filed by first name). When known, the sender's location is listed. Correspondence from unknown senders are located at the end of the series.
