Identifier: B

Scope and Contents

From the Sub-Series:

The Georgia Political Activities sub-series documents Gretta's role during the pre-Carter Presidency in DeKalb county as "President of the Democratic Party of DeKalb County" and later as the "Grassroots campaigner for the Southeast and New England during Carter's campaign for President as part of the 'Peanut Brigade'. The documents consist of brochures, manuals, handbooks, new clippings, correspondence, statistics and legislation.

The other activities Gretta was involved in that did not include Carter directly but more surrounding the Democratic party are her support materials and other items of interest to Dewald. The folders labeled 'Democratic Party: Misc' consist of support materials from other states Rules Committees from which Gretta used as models and guides on how to construct her own Georgia Democratic initiatives for Georgia. Most of these folders are copies from other states Democratic Party handbooks, bylaws, action plans and other manuals.
