Scope and Contents of the Papers

The Dan E. Sweat Papers consists of speeches, correspondence, newspaper clippings, reference materials, subject files and date books.

Arranged chronologically from 1976-1989, Series I includes speeches, correspondence, and newspaper clippings. The majority of the folders in Series I contain final and rough draft copies of the given speech as well as related correspondence and reference material. Some folders lack copies of speeches and other materials. The majority of Series I refers to Sweat's corporate connections and stresses his involvement with CAP, IDEA, Leadership Atlanta, and Metro Atlanta Community Foundation (MACF).

Series II consists of subject files for organizations in which Sweat was involved. These organizations include the Alliance for Human Services Planning, the Atlanta Partnership of Business and Education, the Georgia Motor Club, Georgia State University, ITC Associates, and the Atlanta Junior League. In addition to reference materials, these folders include organizational minutes and correspondence.

Series III contains personal appointment books, printed materials, including bound volumes and pamphlets and WSB Radio audio cassettes.
