Scope and Content of the Series

From the Series:

The Campaigns and Projects series, 1964, 1973, 1983-2006, documents a myriad of programs created by NARAL Pro-Choice Georgia to support pro-choice activism, as well as projects it participated in, such as the Adolescent Reproductive Health Education Project of Georgia (ARHEP). Some NARAL Pro-Choice Georgia programs were based on models provided by NARAL or other state affiliates, and the series includes material on creating campaigns and projects as well as records of their progress and administration.

A number of files in the series have to do with immediate political or legislative issues, but others represent longer-lasting efforts to train activists and leaders or to alter the climate for providing reproductive services in Georgia. Among the programs that are thoroughly documented in the series are TORCH, a teen leadership and mentoring program (2000-2006), and the Women of Color Leadership Program (2000-2006). The series also contains information on projects undertaken by NARAL Pro-Choice Georgia. Extensive files document the Emergency Contraception Project, which gathered information on the availability of that service in the state (2002-2005) and The Fake Clinic Campaign, created to research "crisis pregnancy centers" which did not provide their patients with information about the full range of legal reproductive services.
